Creating Custom Games just got Way Better with Rec Room’s “^clubhouse” Update

With the “^clubhouse” update, players can now build, save, and restore custom rooms. Here are the bigger projects I’ve seen players working on. Featured above is a custom lounge created by Delco and EmilyWafflesYay.

  • Race Tracks - As soon as the RC Cars were released, I knew I wanted to host a racing event - The Rectona 500. Over the last couple updates, Against Gravity has polished the RC Car controller with a built in screen that allows for first person, third person, and top down views. After surveying each activity, I decided Propulsion would be the map for the big race. I have since created and tested a full race track - more on this later.

  • Theater - During the beta testing for clubhouses, “dave of many names” demonstrated the custom room potential for theatrical performances. The maker pen now has the ability to freeze any object that comes from sandbox machine. Players can decide if they want an object to be a prop or just part of a static set - that doesn’t react to collision. Many new objects and scenery have been added to sandbox machine. The Orange Bucket Acting Troup has been rehearsing their production for months now. Clubhouses should make for a cleaner and more streamlined performance.

  • Mazes and Puzzles - The sandbox machine has seen a huge increase in the maximum amount of object it can produce. Players can now produce enough objects to create large and confusing mazes. This could be especially fun when combining a maze race with the teleportation delay.
